  Vastly improved. We've been coming to Topsail Beach for over 30 years and have seen a lot of changes over the years. Watching the Beach Shop transform from a quick and casual little diner to more of a casual upscale restaurant has been interesting. The quiet South-end has needed something a little fancier for quite a while ... the next best options are all 15 minutes back up Hwy 50 in Surf City.
  
  The food is excellent (the she-crab soup is the best I've ever had), the fish tacos I had with Mahi were on point as well. Most recently I had a very tasty southern-style burger with fried-green tomatoes, onion straws, and bacon jam.
  
  The wine and beer list has also grown considerably. I'm very happy to see some local craft beer options on tap within walking/biking distance from where we regularly stay.
